So, is it possible to make money on-line – or is this some kind of myth? Do people really earn an income using the Internet and can it make a difference to you, either in allowing you to create a business or maximise the one you already have?
Well, the truth is that you can make money on-line. In fact, get it right and you can earn a fortune on the Internet, although it is better to have realistic expectations – not least of which is that the Internet mimics ‘real’ life.
Indeed, whilst you may make an instant fortune, the reality is that you are more likely to make reasonable money after having placed a lot of consistent well-judged work into developing your Internet business. As with conventional life, there are few, simple shortcuts that really work and you should be wary of anything (or anyone!) on the Internet that suggests otherwise.
That said, there is, like everything else in life, a ‘hard’ way of doing things and an easier way and the ‘easier’ way when it comes to the Internet is to learn from other people’s mistakes rather than your own – well before you start out.
In fact, unfortunately, most of us blunder around on the Internet before we start to understand how to make it work. This is exasperating, extremely stressful and can, all too often, lead to failure though sheer exhaustion and frustration.
Certainly, I would be the first to admit that getting to grips with the Internet has been a long and wearying battle – saved from utter disaster through the help of a couple of very knowledgeable friends who have been consistently patient and tolerant with me. Time and again, they have freely helped and explained how it all works – and gradually I have seen how everything fits together and how making money on-line is not only possible but can be done.
I say all of this because not everyone is techie. Not everyone is in their twenties and up to date with cyberspace. In truth, many people are like me (52 – damn it!) and from an age when PCs did not exist – let alone the notion that you could earn a living on the Internet (which, of course, had yet to be invented!).

So, I am a good example of someone who has ‘got to grips’ with making money on the Net although I have had to do it the ‘hard’ way and I would not wish that route on anyone – which is why I wrote The Laptop Entrepreneur.
